The Medicare Rights Center (MRC) recognizes that one of the most effective ways to educate the public about Medicare issues is through the media. The press is the best tool for disseminating Medicare information widely to diverse audiences that include health care consumers, advocates, policymakers, and decision makers at health care, pharmaceutical and health insurance industries.

MRC routinely sends the press Medicare news that impacts the 40 million people with Medicare and their family, friends, coworkers and community. MRC alerts hundreds of journalists from national and local print, broadcast and online media outlets to MRC research findings, how changes in the Medicare system impact people with Medicare, recommendations for Medicare reform, as well as new MRC initiatives.

The press knows that MRC is an authority on Medicare and regularly makes inquiries to the organization to learn about Medicare trends and how program changes affect people who depend on Medicare for their health coverage. Journalists call on MRC when they want help locating individuals who have had Medicare problems that illustrate the Medicare topic they are covering. MRC's role in the national and state policy arena, training and education programs for professionals who assist older and disabled adults, and hotline services give the organization a wide breadth of expertise which has made it the prime source for journalists seeking Medicare information.

If you are a member of the press and would like to be on MRC's press list, please contact the Deputy Director of Communications.
